London’s Balamuc’s music naturally bursts with energy and never more so than on their new single ‘Dimineata’, a traditional Romanian song which has been given a Balamuc facelift. Balamuc chose ‘Dimineata’ as the first single from their June 2023 new album TARKABARKA (Colourful) as they poured their heart and soul into the arrangement.

‘Dimineata’ has fun sounds, such as the jaws harp and daf, it’s a unique arrangement of two traditional Romani songs mixed with Motown beats. This track is a burst of energy, the lyrics describes the feeling of early morning after a great night of fun. Our band’s essential message is to provide great fun to the audience, and our arrangement of this song is in line with the lyrics.”

‘Dimineata’ has a special place in Romanian folklore as well as the contemporary folk scene. It is a song that is well known and loved in Romania often performed by Romania’s Taraf de Haiduks. A ‘taraf’ is a Romanian word for folk musicians who perform on traditional folk instruments, usually having up to eight musicians. In fact, Balamuc is a London multicultural taraf with musicians hailing from Hungary, Turkey, France, Ireland, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
